YG Entertainment reported on the 12th that Cha Seung-won will appear in the Netflix film "Uprising" directed by Kim Sang-man, with director Park Chan-wook participating in the production and screenplay.

"Uprising" tells the story of Jong-ryeo (Park Jung-min), the son of Joseon's highest military family who grew up together, and his servant Cheon-yeong (Gang Dong-won) meeting again as an enemy of King Seonjo (Cha Seung-won).

When the Imjin War broke out, Cha Seung-won fled, leaving the country and its people behind, and after the war, he plays the role of King Seonjo, who only strives to rebuild the king's authority. He plans to express the dark bare face of the monarch in the turbulent world with his own acting. It is the first time in about eight years that he has appeared in a historical drama since "The Map Against the World".

It was directed by Kim Sang-man, who made the movie "Midnight FM". The production is handled by Moho Film and Semicolon Studios, which produced "Decision to Leave", "The Handmaiden" and "Snowpiercer". In particular, director Park Chan-wook participated in the production, as well as jointly writing a script with writer Shin Chul, raising expectations.

Meanwhile, Cha Seung-won will visit his fans with the films "Believer 2" and "The Tyrant" before "Uprising".
