Women's Group Highlights Rape Culture and Its Power

According to a corporate body called the Korean Women's Hotline (KWH), the club Burning Sun issue, which has brought about allegations of rape and prostitution, have made the following statement: "The creation and distribution of illegal videos and drugs, and the business of the huge and illegal sex industry uses rape culture in which men who violate women's bodies and sexuality, using them as tools, is being maintained and expanded with government power and alliance".

According to the KWH, the late Jang Ja-yeon, the Kim Hak-eui case, and the Burning Sun issue have shown what rape culture in our society can lead to. "It is a lawless place where violence against women is rampant, with "sexual currency" for business, drug rapes, and the circulation of illegal films".

"Jung Joon-young's Kakao Talk chatroom was a space where they plotted and shared crimes against women". The KWH regulated them as 'a criminal group that regularly conducted and shared rape'.

Regarding their police ties, the KWH said, "The power of public authority is also part of a strong male cartel that sexually targets, exploits, and does not hesitate to commit violence against women".

Regarding the investigations, "Considering the fact that the police themselves are investigating the alleged collusion with the police and the prosecution's decision to suspend the case despite clear evidence in the past case of former Vice Justice Minister Kim Hak-eui, it is hard to trust the prosecution's command of the investigation. The police and the prosecution should conduct a thorough investigation of cases at the risk of the organization's fate, severely punishing those involved and those responsible".

The KWH also claims, "All those who produce, consume and distribute illegal film must be punished severely".
