"Bloody Heart" is a fictional historical drama that begins when Lee Tae, the enemy of King Sunjong who became king after the rebellion, ascends to the throne of Joseon. It depicts Lee Tae who dreams of absolute power and Park Gye-won (Jang Hyuk) who tries to make the king the 'flower of the royal throne' stand in conflict from each other and Yoo Jeong (Kang Han-na), a free-spirited soul who gets tangled in this battle for power.

Lee Joon plays Lee Tae who becomes king after Sunjong. Lee Tae justifies anything he does for his goal. Attention draws on how he will express the emotions of his changing character amidst intense battle in the palace.

Kang Han-na plays Yoo Jeong, someone who is too ahead of herself to be bound by the strict Confucian doctrine and someone too free-spirited to be bound up as a Joseon woman. Lee Tae points her out as his queen and therefore, crisis hits Yoo Jeong's home as she gets tangled up in this battle for power.

Jang Hyuk plays Park Gye-won, the first vice-premier. He is living power and everyone obeys him even if he doesn't mention his power and authority. He is a 'king maker' who is determined to create a wise king, so that Joseon is never shaken up again by a tyrant ever again.

Jang Hyuk and Lee Joon are reuniting for the first time since the 2013 drama "IRIS 2".

"Bloody Heart" is expected to premiere in early 2022.
