Korean/Japanese Period Thriller Wraps up Filming

Sidus Media Group and Toho Pictures recently wrapped up shooting their co-production 'Zero Focus' at the new Pucheon Fantastic Film Studios just outside of Seoul. Both Sidus and Toho are among the biggest film companies in their respective countries and therefore represent a significant relationship. Toho Pictures is responsible for anime hits 'Howl's Moving Castle' (2005), and 'Ghost in the Shell 2' (2004) whereas Sidus Media Group have produced and distributed a string of Korean films including last year's all girl, hand ball hit 'Forever the Moment' (2007). Sidus have also reportedly bought the rights of several Japanese novels. .

Zero Focus, a period thriller is directed by Isshin Inudou whose more recent film 'Bizan' (2007) gained him the Japanese Academy's Best Director Award. The film is a remake based on the 1961 Japanese film of the same name about a newly wed woman who goes on a search for her missing husband in the Japanese country side. Amongst the snow and dangerous wilds she finds out the secrets of his mysterious life.

The shooting of Zero Focus at the Fantastic Film Studios may set a precedent. The studio houses a 1930's period set that, because of the Japanese occupation of Korea earlier last century, is similar to that of Japan in the same time period. The film is still shooting in Japan and is slated to be released at the end of the year.
