[HanCinema's News] Yoo Ah-in Removed from "Hellbound - Season 2"

Following his arrest for possession of cocaine and ketamine, Netflix announced that Yoo Ah-in would be removed from "Hellbound - Season 2" later this year. The news announcement was made on March 2nd and also revealed other cast members in the fantasy drama's lineup. It is unclear how much advance knowledge Netflix may have had regarding Yoo Ah-in's drug problems, given how quickly his replacement was announced.

In "Hellbound" Yoo Ah-in played Chairman Jeong Jin-soo, the leader of a cult that worships otherworldly entities which first tell a person the day of their death, and then send unstoppable monsters to murder them on that day. The role of Chairman Jeong Jin-soo will now be played by Kim Sung-cheol, who is perhaps best known for playing the second lead in "Our Beloved Summer" last year. He also played the Crown Prince in the dark Joseon thriller "The Night Owl" which is closer to "Hellbound" in tone.

Kim Hyun-joo will also return in her role as a lawyer who stands against the cult. Yang Ik-june and Lee Re will reprise their roles as a detective and his daughter, and Kim Shin-rok will also reprise her role as a mother condemned to die who becomes entangled with the cult. Yang Dong-geun will play a new role as the leader of a group who tries to fight the cult, while Im Sung-jae plays an important person in that group.

Cho Dong-in will make a special appearance as a character described as "Pinwheel" while Moon Geun-young as "Sunshine Section Teacher" will have a special appearance of her own. "Hellbound" is based on the webtoon of the same title by Choi Kyu-sok and writer/director Yeon Sang-ho, with the webtoon itself based on one of Yeon Sang-ho's old animated short films. Yeon Sang-ho will personally direct "Hellbound - Season 2" as he did the first season.
