[HanCinema's News] Kwon Hyun-bin Cast for "The Red Sleeve"

On May 25th YG Entertainment, which represents actor Kwon Hyun-bin, confirmed that he would appear in the upcoming historical drama "The Red Sleeve" later this year. He will play the role of Jang Baek-ik, the adoptive son of Princess Hwa-wan. Though previous reports had mentioned that the role of Princess Hwa-wan had been offered to actress Seo Hyo-rim, this new report explicitly confirms that she has taken the role via mentioning her by name.

Jang Baek-ik has been described as a highly ambitious character, determined to make himself the right-hand man of the reigning king and aligning himself with the princess to achieve this purpose. In a statement, Kwon Hyun-bin described himself as trembling with anticipation at having received the honor of working alongside such distinguished elder co-stars. At twenty-three years old, Kwon Hyun-bin is younger than all of his confirmed co-stars by several years.

Kwon Hyun-bin also promised to do his best to improve his own talent for the role. This will mark Kwon Hyun-bin's first appearance in a mainline drama. He had appeared as the lead in the feature film "Twenty Hacker" this past March and had also appeared in the webdrama "Summer Guys" which finished this past April 28th. The current release window for "The Red Sleeve" suggests the drama will broadcast sometime this October.
