On the 17th, the Seoul Southern District Court's Criminal Division 9 (Judge Kim Yoon-hee) sentenced Song Duk-ho, who was put on trial for violating the Military Service Act, to one year in prison, suspended for two years, and ordered 80 hours of community service.

The court said, "We considered the fact that both the first offender and the investigative agency confessed to the crime and that he is expected to fulfill his military service obligations through re-examination".

Song Duk-ho is accused of conspiring with military service broker Koo (47) to create epilepsy symptoms and being falsely diagnosed and exempted from military service.

Song handed over 15 million won to broker Koo in April 2021 and made up epilepsy symptoms such as seizures, and was diagnosed with level 4 as a supplementary role for convulsive diseases in May last year.

Earlier, the prosecution demanded a one-year prison term for Song at a final hearing on the 14th of last month.
