Would You Hire Kim Sam-soon?

Job search websites are scraping the barrel in their tireless search for new subjects for unrepresentative surveys. Among the scrapings is the discovery that the mildly overweight, mildly outspoken, but entirely lovable heroine of the hit drama "My Name is Kim Sam-soon" is unlike to make a good first impression on a potential employer.

Showered with flowers by her lover Jin-heon in the show, Sam-soon would nonetheless have a hard time with more than half the personnel officers asked by Korea Recruit if they would hire her.

The company asked 210 personnel officers if they would give Kim a job, and heard that 56.2 percent of respondents would not. Of them, 45.8 percent ? readers are encouraged to do the math themselves -- cited "personality problems" like Sam-soon's absent-mindedness and lack of devotion to the job.

Among the respondents who were willing to employ a fictional character, 60.9 percent were satisfied with her professional conduct, and 34.8 percent chose Sam-soon for her frankness.

Overall, however, only 21.9 percent of respondents expected Sam-soon to pass the document screening phase, while a mere 12.4 percent answered that she would pass the interview.
