Top Performance of 2008 'Mamma Mia'

In a "ticket power" survey held by online reservation portal Interpark ENT, the musical "Mamma Mia" has ranked as the top performance of 2008.

Interpark said the survey was based on Interpark ticket sales of performances staged last year and a poll of 15,000 netizens. The musical was chosen as the performance with the highest ticket power of all genres combined.

"Liar 1" ranked atop the drama section, "Pizzi Opera Festival Aida-Turandot" by the Korea Opera Group led the way in classical music, and the American Ballet Theater's "Don Quixote" ranked number one in dance/traditional art.

As for popular music concerts, veteran singer Cho Yong-pil's 40th anniversary nationwide tour and Celine Dion's Korean concert were polled as the best Korean and foreign concert, respectively.

In a survey on individual artists, Sung Ki-yoon and Choi Jeong-won-I, who starred both in "Mamma Mia" and "Chicago", were picked as the musical actors with the highest ticket power, while Kim Jin-woo was polled as the most promising musical talent.

In theater, Hwang Jeong-min (Laugh University) and Lee Ji-ha (who starred in 3 plays) were the top male and female performer, respectively. Violist Richard Yongjae O'Neill was number one in dance/classical music and Cho Yong-pil and Celine Dion ranked atop the pop music field.
