In 2010, the audience met with a swarm of great Korean movies of every genre and style that was able to satisfy moviegoers of all types! Let's take a look at the characteristics of the popular Korean films of 2010.

Over 500 movies were released in Korea during 2010.

According to the Korea Movie Rating Board, there were 88 Korean movies produced in 2010, 6 less than 2009. Korean movies took up 46% of the market share. Which movies boasted the most robust ticket sales

[Interview : Darcy Paquet, Movie Columnist] "I think it was a pretty good year, 2010. There was a good mix of, kind of, successful commercial features and large and small-scale art films. There was no really huge hit in 2010, but in general I thought there were a lot of films released, and many of them were very good".

Kicking off with "No Mercy", the first release of the year, 2010 presented more than the usual dose of revenge thriller movies. , , , and all approach the theme of "Revenge". There were many other thriller films, packed with unpredictable endings and heartpounding action that kept audience members on the edge of their seats.

[Interview : Darcy Paquet, Movie Columnist] "I think there's a new generation of directors who have been very influenced by movies like "Oldboy". They want to make their own kind of revenge movies for the future".

This year, Korean actors presented a great deal of action movies - exemplified by Hwang Jung-min and Ryoo Seung-bum in , to Park Hae-il, Jung Jae-young, and Yoo Hae-jin in , and Lee Byung-hun and Choi Min-sik in.

But above all, the star of the year was Won Bin, who took home two Best Actor awards and critical acclaim for his acting skills with .

[Interview : Won Bin, Actor] "It was my first time doing wire action, and I kept thinking that I don't want to do it again. I thought that I really could die while doing it".

Won Bin's close friend Gang Dong-won was also busy in 2010.

[Interview : Gang Dong-won, Actor] "I knew that if I blinked, the emotion would be interrupted. It was hard to keep my eyes open because they kept hurting".

2010 was also lit up by new faces on the big screen. The most well-received new actor was Song Sae-byeok , who took home Best New Actor awards for his supporting roles, boasting an unparalleled support from the audience.

Lee Min-jung also appeared to quench the audience's thirst for new faces. Alongside Song Sae-byeok , she quickly rose to stardom through lovable characters and her stunning beauty.

Adult actors weren't the only ones successful this year. Including Kim Sae-ron from , child actors captivated the audience with their realistic acting. Moviegoers were also enticed by the appearance of many foreign actors in movies like "Haunters".
