Korean erotic thriller "The Housemaid - 2010" [Sidus F&H]

Korean film "The Housemaid - 2010" caught the attention of numerous foreign buyers at the Cannes Film Market, selling to a total 15 countries at the event held in time with the Cannes Film Festival.

A press release by Sidus F&H announced that at the Film Market held during the film fest into its 63rd year, the erotic thriller was sold to France, Italy, Germany, Greece, Russia, Israel, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, New Zealand, Australia, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore and Thailand.

Hong Kong's head of Edko Films Ltd. William Kong was one of the first buyers to purchase rights for the film, while this is the first Korean film Italian distributor Fandango has picked up.

Distributor Long Shong Entertainment Multimedia Taiwan bought "The Housemaid - 2010" for Taiwan. They had acquired the rights for Korean action film "Shiri" 10 years ago.

"The Housemaid - 2010", a remake of a Korean classic "The Housemaid - 1960" from the 1960s, is about a young maid who is hired as a housemaid for a wealthy couple and begins to have an affair with the husband.

The modern adaptation, starring 2007 Cannes best actress winner Jeon Do-yeon, actor Lee Jung-jae and veteran actress Youn Yuh-jung, was up for main competition at this year's fest but failed to win an award.
