"The Host" Draws Positive Reviews in U.S.

Korea's blockbuster monster flick, "The Host", is emerging as a major hit in the United States after raking in 320-thousand dollars since its debut in American theaters on Saturday.

After three days in theaters, the movie directed by Bong Joon-ho ranks 39th out of the some one-hundred films that have opened in American theaters this year.

The bloody action tale of an army of Spartans entitled "300" topped the list in terms of profit after earning some 76 million dollars since it opened Saturday.

However, the fact that "300" was screened in more than three-thousand theaters across the U.S. and the "The Host" in 71 shows that the Korean film is quickly emerging as a "monster" hit.

The Korean film also ranked 7th in a survey by the movie magazine, Box Office, on profits made by films worldwide over the past year by earning a total of 69 million dollars.

The film, which has gotten positive reviews from the New York Times and the LA Times, will be screened in one-hundred-22 theaters across the U.S. until May.
