On the fifth episode of the KBS 2TV drama "Sword and Flower" on the 17th, Jang (On Joo-wan) saved Yeon-choong (Uhm Tae-woong) for Goguryeo.
The scene where Yeon-choong struggles for air in the execution scene climbs back up to the night before. Jang decided to save Yeon-choong after meeting Yeon Gaesomun (Choi Min-soo). Jang added a potion that will decrease his heartbeat in the last tea Yeon-choong drank.
Jang then told King Yeong-ryu (Kim Young-chul), "Yeon Gaesomun asked for the body in one piece so that he can have a funeral. Please hang and not behead". The king agreed.
Yeon-choong stopped breathing and Moo-yeong (Kim Ok-vin) started crying. Yeon-choong was handed over to Yeon Gaesomun outside of the palace as a body but he was still alive.
The rope that hung Yeon-choong was adjusted so that it didn't strangle him so.
Jang told Yeon Gaesomun, "It's my destiny I protect that royal palace. The king ordered a beheading but it's their hostility that would destroy the Goguryeo so I have brought you your son".
