On the episode 20 of MBC's Monday & Tuesday drama, "Monster - 2016", Byeon Il-jae (Jung Bo-suk) found out the real identity of Kang Gi-tan (Kang Ji-hwan).

On this day, Byeon Il-jae was confined at a hospital after he was diagnosed with schizophrenia. Kang Gi-tan hired a care aide for him to confirm if Byeon Il-jae was actually mentally ill.
Byeon Il-jae told his wife Hwang Ji-soo (Kim Hye-eun), "Fire the care aide. It's Kang Gi-tan, who made us this miserable. I'm pretending I'm crazy. I've met Oh Choong-dong (Park Hoon)". Byeon Il-jae had met Oh Choong-dong to check what was behind Kang Gi-tan's suspicious activities.
Oh Choong-dong showed up with the result of Lee Gook-cheol's blood work. According to the result, Lee Gook-cheol's blood did not have the serum of MK2 vaccine. Byeon Il-jae said, "Someone must have switched the blood. Kang Gi-tan is Lee Gook-cheol. Lee Gook-cheol did not die, he was alive".
