Ji Hae-soo (Kong Hyo-jin) told Jang Jae-yeol (Zo In-sung) her what happened back then.

Jang Jae-yeol said, "You told me that you would tell me why you were crying the last time we spent the night on the beach together. And that you'd trust me if I still loved you after you told me. I remember".

Ji Hae-soo said, "When I was in high school, I received a call about my father being in the ER. I wasn't surprised because it happened a lot before. When I ran to the hospital, I wasn't expecting him to live. But he did and I wasn't happy because everything felt like it went back to ground zero".

The scene flowed into the past when Ji Hae-soo was younger and she was on the phone with her mother's secret boyfriend Kim, "Why aren't you meeting my mom? What about my college?" She'd manipulated her mother into cheating on her husband because of her anxiety about the future.

Ji Hae-soo said, "So I sold my mother to him and got myself to medical college". Jang Jae-yeol hugged her and said, "I love you". And she replied, "So much" and continued crying.
