So Ji-sub returned to the small screen with the drama "Doctor Lawyer" after winning the Grand Prize (Daesang) for his performance in "Terius Behind Me" in 2018. In the drama, he plays the role of a medical litigation lawyer who was once a genius surgeon. He is well-received for his well-rounded acting, not only with his cool charisma but also with his desperate desire to take revenge for those who have stolen everything from him.

Due to SBS' drama "Why Her?" starring Seo Hyun-jin, which holds the top spot in the same time slot, the ratings of "Doctor Lawyer" is unable to rebound and has maintained a 5-6% viewer rating since the first broadcast.

After "Doctor Lawyer", the movies "Alienoid" (produced by Caper Film) and "Confession - 2020" (produced by Realies Pictures) are expected to calm down the disappointment from the ratings.

"Alienoid", which will be released in theaters during the peak of summer on the 20th, is a sci-fi fantasy movie directed by Choi Dong-hoon, who drew 10 million viewers with his works, "The Thieves" and "Assassination". In the movie, So Ji-sub plays the role of a detective who is being chased by aliens for unknown reasons. Actors Ryu Jun-yeol, Kim Tae-ri, and Kim Woo-bin will appear in the movie.

"Confession - 2020", which will be released in the second half of the year, is a remake of the Spanish movie "The Invisible Guest" which received favorable reviews for its shocking twist. He plays the role of a promising businessman who has been pointed out as the suspect in a secret murder case and works with Kim Yunjin, a lawyer with a 100% win rate who tries to prove his innocence.
