SM to debut its first multinational boy band in 2012

SM Entertainment will debut a new male group consisting of Korean, Chinese and Japanese members, aimed to attract a more international fan base, a local website, Newen.com, has reported.

It is not yet decided how many members it will be comprised of and all members will also act in smaller units as well as a whole group, according to the report.

The girl group f(x) was the last released by SM back in late 2009. Since then, the Korean music powerhouse has launched concerts in Europe, Asia, and cities in the U.S., fanning out the Hallyu wave to all parts of the globe. SM singers have successfully topped Asian music charts and are seeking to break into the international music scene.

The Korean label has been producing numerous girl groups, such as Girls' Generation, so people are excited to learn more about this new male idol band. Music mogul and founder of SM Lee Soo-man looks to have his singers dominate the global music market.

The year 2012 will definitely be an exciting year for K-pop fans as the "big 3" Korean music entertainment agencies of SM, YG, JYP will each release new artists.
