Lee Eun-mi-I, a member of a girl group Iris, was killed by her boyfriend, Wednesday.

Police said they arrested the boyfriend, identified as Cho, on charges of murdering the 24-year-old because she was breaking up with him and seeing another man. They had dated for about seven months.

Cho allegedly stabbed the singer with a knife on her way home in Siheung, Gyeonggi Province, around 2:15 a.m. after waiting for her to come. He bought the knife at a shop hours earlier, according to police.

After the murder, Cho sent his mother and friends a text message that read: "I killed her. It is so painful". He then stole a car near his home and fled to Seocheon, South Chungcheong Province. He then took buses to his hometown in Gochang, North Jeolla Province, but was arrested there.

Iris made its debut with the single "Message of Love" in 2005.
