The movie has already attracted more than 400,000 viewers since it was released in Japan in June.

Based on a book by Isoko Mochizuki, a Tokyo Shimbun reporter who exposed government cover-ups about a scandal linked to Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, it attempts to tackle fake news and official cover-ups in the format of a conventional thriller.

Shim has received good reviews in Japan regardless of her nationality, which has become more problematic since a spat between the two neighboring countries intensified.
