The electronics giant said Thursday that it will release the 5G version of the Galaxy S10 on April 5 in Korea.

It is equipped with a large 6.7-inch display and four rear cameras. The price has not been finalized, but it is likely to be around W1.5 million (US$1=W1,129).

The country's top telecom companies -- SK Telecom, KT and LG Uplus -- will start to offer the 5G service in Seoul and other major cities to coincide with Samsung's new phone, making Korea the first country in the world to do so.

The 5G enables data transfer to occur 20 times faster than the 4G LTE. Global companies are competing fiercely for leadership in the 5G market. Verizon, the No. 1 telecom service provider in the U.S., recently said that it will launch the service on April 11 with a modified version of a Motorola handset.
