Samsung's Brand Value Tops $60 Billion for 1st Time

Samsung's brand value has exceeded US$60 billion for the first time, ranking sixth on the world's 100 top brands list for the third consecutive year.

According to the annual list of the Best Global Brands by consulting firm Interbrand released on Thursday, Samsung's brand value grew 2 percent from last year to $61.1 billion this year, keeping it in the top 10 for eight years in a row since it was first included at No. 9 in 2012.

Hyundai ranked 36th with $14.2 billion and Kia was placed at 78th with $6.4 billion.

Apple topped the list at $234.2 billion, followed by Google at $167.7 billion. The two companies occupied the top two spots for the seventh consecutive year. Amazon ($125.2 billion) came in third, followed by Microsoft ($108.8 billion) and Coca-Cola ($63.4 billion). Toyota ($56.2 billion) followed Samsung in seventh place.
