A big festival that will offer a glimpse of the Chosun Dynasty royal culture will be held for the first time.

The Cultural Heritage Administration and the Korea Cultural Heritage Foundation will hold the royal culture festival at palaces, royal shrines and the downtown area in Seoul from Sept. 20 to 28.

At Gyeongbok Palace, visitors can experience tea ceremonies and appreciate performances featuring important intangible cultural assets.

At Changdeok Palace, the Secret Garden at the rear of the palace, access to which is restricted to preserve its pristine nature, will serve as a venue for various events.

There will be traditional music performances and storytelling at Changgyeong Palace. Deoksu Palace will offer traditional music concerts and royal banquets.

The royal shrine of Jongmyo will be open at night for the first time during the festival, and royal ancestral ritual music will be performed.

In the Gwanghwamun area, media façade shows will be held at 8 p.m. every night during the festival, illuminating the capital with a combination of art and technology.
