Pusan Film Festival Expands Asian Cooperation

The February 16 edition of Film Business Asia reports that Korea's Pusan International Film Festival and the Mumbai Film Festival in India have signed a memorandum of understanding on "artistic, financial and educational exchanges and mutual collaboration".

The signing took place during the current Berlin International Film Festival, where Lee Yong-kwan and Srinivasan Narayanan, respectively festival directors of Pusan and Mumbai, pledged to unite Asian film communities.
The article points out that four South Korean films were screened at the Mumbai Festival in 2010: Lee Chang-dong's "Poetry", Hong Sang-soo's "Ha Ha Ha", Zhang Lu's "Dooman River" and Lee Sang-woo's "Mother is a Whore".

Film Business Asia states: "The Pusan International Film Festival is widely regarded as Asia's most important and influential film event; its 16th edition is scheduled for 6-14 Oct 2011, with its Asian Film Market held 10-13 Oct".
