[HanCinema's News] TVING Announces End to Contract With Paramount+

On May 15th, the South Korean streaming platform TVING sent out a notice to all subscribers confirming that they had terminated their contract with the American streaming service Paramount+. TVING contracted with Paramount+ in June of 2022 to obtain the streaming distribution rights to television programs owned by the American platform. TVING had been the sole distributor for Paramount+ shows such as Halo, Knuckles, and Rabbit Hole.

These shows will no longer be available in South Korea starting on June 18th, at least on TVING, although Paramount+ has not made any statements as to why the agreement with TVING ended and whether their shows will be available on another platform. The news appears to be related to recent talks about Sony and the Apollo Group buying Paramount Global for 26 billion dollars, although Skydance has also come up as a possible buyer.
