[Orion's Daily Ramblings] Park Jin-hee, Lee Ki-woo and Bong Tae-gyu Join Social Drama "Doctor Detective"

"Doctor Detective", which we had last heard of when it was courting Kim Hyun-joo, finally has a premise and a main cast. Actors Park Jin-hee and Bong Tae-gyu reunite after "Return", and Lee Ki-woo joins the party in this series tackling yet another fresh type of occupation and injustice.

"Doctor Detective" deals with cases where death is man-made, rather than natural, and where the cure is prevention, rather than treatment. It is a social drama about those who reveal the hidden truths behind industrial accidents, environmental accidents of artificial (man-made) environments, and occupational hazards regardless of the causes, opposition faced, and consequences.

Park Jin-hee is the titular healing investigator, so to speak. She plays Do Joong-eun, an Occupational & Environmental Medicine specialist. Although Joong-eun is a genius specialist with great concentration skills, her ability is described as not solely a product of her genius, implying that hard work has been put into reaching her current standing.

Lee Ki-woo is Choi Tae-yeong, a third generation chaebol heir of TG Group. Although he has the ability required for his position, he lacks the desire and greed for it, and is a person who just wants to live freely. Bong Tae-gyu plays Heo Min-ki, a doctor and a man of decency. He dreams of revenge for his father's tragic death 15 years ago.

We're getting plenty of new jobs in Dramaland as of late, from auditors to labor inspectors, and from jail doctors to our unique specialist here. The set up is still just garnish on typical revenge and justice stories, but at least our pool of job environments is widening. "Doctor Detective" will follow "The Secret Life of My Secretary" on SBS in July.
