[Orion's Daily Ramblings] New Stills and Teasers for "Mother - Drama"

I love-hate it when I take my eyes away from a work for a bit and I am later met with a ton of goodies for it. "Mother - Drama" has kept busy with promotion and we got several new stills and three new teasers from the series. The elusive Hye-na (played by Heo Yool) is finally getting some focus, and her presence is as endearing and tragic as I expected.

The drama's latest images show Soo-jin (Lee Bo-young) and her close relationship with her own mother, while the series has also released stills showing more of the connection between Soo-jin and Hye-na. We have the two heroines showing physical intimacy with hugs and an adorable little Hye-na leaning on Soo-jin. The third teaser presents Hye-na's way of coping by thinking about all the things that she loves and telling Soo-jin to do the same.

Things are more somber in newer stills of the two and especially in the latest teasers. We see the news coverage for Hye-na's disappearance and witness snippets of her problems ranging from being shunned at school to the main danger of domestic abuse. My heart breaks as Hye-na asks a flock of seagulls if they can take her with them far away, to heaven.

I can't get a solid grasp on Heo Yool's acting from a few short clips alone and Ashida Mana's performance is definitely setting a high bar here, but I do like what I see of the young Korean actress so far. I hope the remake will treat its weighty subject matter with utmost respect and maturity and I look forward to our newly highlighted young heroine!
