[Orion's Daily Ramblings] Lee Si-young and Ji Hyun-woo Have a Meet-Clash in First Teaser for "Risky Romance"

Leave it to Dramaland to take dire topics and turn them into romantic comedy material, the latest one being a behavioral imbalance caused by a car accident. This is the plight of "Risky Romance" hero, Han Seung-joo (Ji Hyun-woo), a man "injured by hormones". Enter hormone-obsessed heroine, Joo In-ah (Lee Si-young), and her goal to make sense of it all. How? Through dating, of course.

I'm pretty sure there would be regulations in place to stop a clearly biased, mad scientist leaning doctor from dating an unstable man as an experiment, but Dramaland does not operate by the rules of medicine, which have no power here. Let's not forget that said unstable man is a surgeon. I'm having a case of a split reaction, where I find the sight of and potential chemistry between the leads so very appealing, but the premise as I know it so far looms menacingly over me.

The teaser itself is typical rom-com fare in presentation, and not all that exciting. We are shown the accident, and told that it has turned Seung-joo into a "weirdo", we have a plucky heroine determined to blame it all on testosterone, we have bickering and clashing. Can "Risky Romance" somehow not drop the ball already teetering on the edge of propriety when it comes to its setup? We'll find out starting July 23rd, on MBC.
