[Orion's Daily Ramblings] Lee Jong-hyuk, Oh Yoon-ah, Lee Moon-sik and More for "539 Yeonnam-dong"

Yesterday was the day of a massive casting update for "539 Yeonnam-dong". The series has cast Lee Jong-hyuk, Go Woo-ri, Choi Woo-hyuk-II and Yang Jeong-won, who will be joining Oh Yoon-ah and Lee Moon-sik. "539 Yeonnam-dong" is an episodic drama about the tenants of a share house in Yeonnam-dong. Each episode of the drama will a different story, so it looks ripe for an ensemble cast and cameos.

Lee Jong-hyuk has been cast as the lead and his character is a detective in the cyber crimes unit and in charge of voice phishing related activity. He is an open-minded man of great sympathy for others and he has a great sense of responsibility for the more unfortunate members of society.

Go Woo-ri plays Do-hee, a job seeker in her third year of unemployment. Do-hee has an excellent memory and a humble academic background, but she lacks the connections to get work. Musical actor Choi Woo-hyuk-II will portray Goo Tae-yeong, a personal trainer working at a fitness center. The news are touting the character as a lady-viewer killer, so I assume he will smile and display his upper body's manly goods in a flexed and seductive manner a lot. Can't complain, really. After a three year break, Yang Jeong-won is also joining the drama, but there is not a lot of information on her character at the moment.

This sounds like a potentially fun slice-of-life style series about diverse characters facing unique, but also relatable problems. The episodic nature means that we may not spend too long with each character, depending on how they go about this, but it could be a fun ride and maybe even include some solid social commentary. The series will be premiering in January and I'll be keeping an eye on it.
