[Orion's Daily Ramblings] Jung Kyung-ho Confirmed, Park Sung-woong, Oh Dae-hwan and Go Ah-sung Considering "Life on Mars"

We're not escaping the "western" show remakes, so we might as well embrace them, and with a cast like this, I can definitely feel a little better about it. After recently confirming Jung Kyung-ho, "Life on Mars" is courting Park Sung-woong, Oh Dae-hwan and Go Ah-sung, who are currently reviewing the offer.

Park Sung-woong is courted to play Kang Dong-cheol, a man with a strong temper, but who displays a kinder, warm side towards victims. I am not sure which character from the original UK series this would be, but I've only managed to do some basic research on it at this point. Like many a "western" show, I found the premise interesting way back when, but never got around to watching it.

"Life on Mars" is about a man of the law who finds himself about 30 years in the past following an accident. He proceeds to tackle crime while figuring out his fate. In the Korean version, the detective wants to solve one particular serial murder case, in hopes that it will bring him back to the present. The original series is described as playing around with the element of his condition a lot, meaning that throughout the work, the hero is not sure whether he is dead, in a coma, mentally ill, or actually a time traveler.

That being said, this is mainly a crime procedural with but a garnish of the supernatural element, which means that it's just the type of show fit for OCN. The channel mostly uses its dramas' unique elements as gimmicks anyway, so a crime show with just a little streak of something else is essentially built for it.

I love the cast that might be forming so far and I hope that this is a good one. "Life on Mars" is helmed by PD Lee Jeong-hyo of works such as "Heartless City" and "The Good Wife", among others, so it's all looking pretty good. The show is currently looking at a June release on OCN. I'll be keeping track of its progress.
