[Orion's Daily Ramblings] Duty, Defiance and Passion in Four Character Teasers for "Live"

It's time to meet the police unit of Noh Hee-kyeong's "Live" in action, and while not terribly eventful, these teasers summarize the basic motivations of the characters. The videos released for Jung Yu-mi, Lee Kwang-soo, Bae Sung-woo and Bae Jong-ok belong in the same group of character teasers, and boy do we have some strong personalities here.

Jung Yu-mi's rookie with a spark, Han Jeong-oh, is being given a warning and a question in her own video. She is told "You're in a place that is unreasonable and unfair. Can you handle it?", to which she replies that she will go all the way. Lee Kwang-soo's Yeom Sang-soo tells us what we've already known. That he has no sense of duty, and that he is just trying to make ends meet.

The newly introduced characters are Bae Sung-woo's Oh Yang-chon and Bae Jong-ok's Ahn Jang-mi. Once among the nation's finest, Yang-chon was quickly promoted after successfully handling important cases. However, an unexpected event causes his demotion. He is an eccentric man and the terror of his subordinates. In the teaser, someone tells him to just take it easy and have a good life. Yang-chon will have none of that, as he yells his conviction in an effort to ward those words off. "We are the police of the Republic of Korea!"

Jang-mi is Yang-chon's wife. Despite being a promising officer, Jang-mi sacrificed her dream in order to take care of her family. Now, after having exhausted her strength as a caretaker, she decides to revitalize her career. Her teaser is full of womanhandling goodness, as she downs a criminal where he stands. Her words are full of frustration and determination. "You're not the only one who has passion".

It sounds like the couple are not having a life of bliss, if the one Jang-mi is talking to is her husband. Perhaps traditional family roles have seeped into their life too much. I'm interested in this pair the most, because seeing two married people working together in such a demanding and highly hierarchical environment will surely bring about interesting opportunities for conflict and bonding. I am really looking forward to "Live", which will be with us on March 10th, on tvN.
