[Orion's Daily Ramblings] "Doctor Prisoner" Releases Stills and Character Information

"Doctor Prisoner" is getting ready to shake the ward with star-studded stills and some more character information on our key players. The upcoming KBS 2TV drama is described as a prison and medical suspense piece about the life and death battle of a genius doctor who becomes a medical director at a prison after being ousted from his hospital.

Namkoong Min plays our unlucky, but tenacious protagonist, Na Yi-je. In order to portray the character, Namkoong Min reportedly learned basic medical terminology, and also practiced the technical aspects of surgery. On the other protagonist end we have Kwon Nara as Han So-geum, a psychiatrist who will become involved with Yi-je and villain Seon Min-sik (Kim Byung-chul) after volunteering at the prison.

Kim Byung-chul's aforementioned Seon Min-sik is the medical director who holds absolute power over the prison. The man referred to as the King of this establishment has built it with the money and power gathered by its VIP crowd, which includes all the loaded categories of people, such as politicians, chaebol, and gangsters. He is described as a cunning negotiator who utilizes his opponent's desires, and uses all and any means to get what he wants.

Lee  Jae-joon (Choi Won-young) is the General Manager of Taegang Group, one of the nation's top conglomerates and the company which owns the hospital where Yi-je works. Jae-joon gains wide media attention when it is announced that he will succeed his father due to the elderly man's battle with Alzheimer's disease. Unlike his refined and warm public image, he is devious and meticulous.

Last, but not least, we have Park Eun-seok as Lee Jae-hwan, the second son of the Taegang Group chairman, and a thoracic surgery ace who has a double board certification alongside Yi-je. According to the production, the scene depicted in the shared stills will become a pivotal point in Yi-je's life. I'm personally burned out on power play scenarios, but the prison theme and cast might just draw me in. "Doctor Prisoner" will be premiering on March 20th.
