Hold onto your doilies, because "Black Knight" is here to remind us just how far removed from our familiar reality this story is set to be. The series has released a main poster and character posters laced with (pun intended) mystery and style.
The latter is arguably not their best aspect, it has to be said. Especially when it comes to the group poster. Kim Rae-won is wearing a tablecloth and curtain combo, Shin Se-kyung's earrings look like an arts and crafts project made by a 7-year-old and I hope whatever feathered beast died to grace Jang Mi-hee's shoulders was deserving of its fate. The fact that everyone looks dead inside is not helping either.
As for the drama itself, while my short brush with writer Kim In-yeong during "When A Man's in Love" was less-than-enjoyable, to put it politely, I do feel the concept has potential. An epic romance under supernatural circumstances and the watchful, dreadful eye of what seems to be two women villains sounds exciting, albeit in a fantasy soap way.
For now my expectations are pretty low. I'd consider it a success if the heroine is not turned into a punching bag for man-pain and severe complexes this time around. Bonus points if the hero is a great guy, the relationship is generally functional and the probably-villainess duo rock our socks off.
