Movie for DMB to be produced

The nation's first feature film for digital multimedia broadcasting (DMB) service will go into production later this year.

Ahn Dong-gyu, CEO of the film production company Ahn's World and 10 filmmakers including Kim Dae-seung, Kim Dong-bin, and Mo Ji-eun, will make "Multi-Cell Girl (Dasepo Sonyo)", which is to be the first DMB movie in Korea.

They have established "Dasepo Club", a digital contents production company aiming at penetrating into the field of satellite DMB.

The DMB movie is based on the popular comic series of the same title, which tells of the lively and hilarious daily lives of high school students.

"We thought that the newness of DMB as a media and unconventionality of the comic's contents go well with each other", said Kim Eun-jung, a spokesman from Ahn's World. "We are planning to start shooting the film late this year. Viewers may be able to see it early next year". The company also plans to make the film of the same title for theater with director Lee Jae-yong.

The DMB movie will be composed of 100 episodes in total, each about 10 minutes long. After broadcasting it through DMB, they will show it through various other media channels like major TV networks, cable TV and VOD.

The Seoul Net & Film Festival (SeNef), an Internet film festival which kicked off on July 1, is also running films through both the Internet and DMB.
