Matchmaking Company Unveils Ideal Couple

Matchmaking company Duo on Tuesday unveiled a snapshot of the ideal couple after a search of the 6,000 people who met through the company and married in the last three years. Duo says it has arranged 29,446 marriages.

Analysis showed that the ideal male candidate to be 36 years old, 175 cm tall, an office worker earning W47 million (US$1=W1,024) a year and graduate of a four-year university.

The ideal female candidate is 33 years old, earns around W35 million a year, graduated from a four-year university, stands 163 cm tall and has an office job.

The average age is 36 for men and 33.4 for women. Generally, 60.8 percent of the male candidates are between 34 and 38 and 63.8 percent of the female candidates between 31 and 35.

The average annual salary is W4.7 million for men and W34.5 million for women. The higher the man's salary, the higher the woman's. The husband makes more money than the wife among 76.8 percent of the couples.

When it came to academic credentials, 70.4 percent of the men and 63.3 percent of the women have university degrees. While 58.3 percent of the couples had similar levels of education, the husband had a higher degree than the wife in 26.4 percent of the couples and the wife a higher degree in 15.3 percent.

Meanwhile, the average time it took from their first date to marriage was 10.2 months. Around 76 percent of the members got married less than a year after being introduced to each other.
