The widow of singer Kim Kwang-seok filed a defamation suit on Monday against a journalist and her brother-in-law for implicating her in the deaths of her husband and daughter.

Lee Sang-ho released a documentary in August that accused Seo Hae-soon of murdering her husband.

In September, Seo's brother-in-law also filed a report to police accusing her of letting her daughter die and defrauding the late singer's relatives of royalties for his songs.

Seo sued for defamation on Monday seeking W600 million in damages from both men (US$1=W1,122).

She also filed for an injunction to stop the airing of the film and hinted that she intends to press criminal charges against the two men.

Seo's brother-in-law claims she deliberately took no emergency measures when her disabled daughter was gravely ill and hid her death in the U.S. during a court battle here over royalties to play on the pity factor.

Police said last week a reopened investigation has found no evidence linking Seo to the daughter's death in 2007.

The couple had a troubled marriage, and Kim's death, at the time ruled a suicide, came abruptly while he was at the height of his fame.
