Kwon Sang-woo Named Spokesman of Namwon World Herbal Industry Expo

Actor kwon Sang-woo has been named spokesman of the 2005 Namwon World Herbal Industry Expo. "We chose kwon Sang-woo as the spokesperson because his healthy and neat image fits well with the beauty and fragrance of herbs", said an official from the Seoul headquarters of the Namwon City government.

Kwon will participate in the opening ceremony of the Herbal Expo on May 4 at the Namwon Tourism Complex in Namwon, North Jeolla Province. He will deliver a keynote speech before embarking on his duties as a spokesman in earnest. Kwon will participate in various functions and star in commercials publicizing the growth of herbs in the Namwon region.

The purpose of the World Herbal Industry Expo, which will be held May 4-8 in Namwon, is to bolster the domestic herbal industry and boost the regional economy of North Jeolla by capitalizing on growing public interest in the recent "well-being" trend.

The event, the second of its kind, will be held under the theme "Eastern Herbs Meet Western Herbs". Over 100 companies from more than 10 countries including the U.S., the U.K., Japan and France, are expected to participate, showcasing all kinds of herbal products.

The event venue will consist of the PR Hall that includes shops selling all kinds of herbs, the Industrial Hall introducing the situation in the herbal industry in Korea and abroad, and the Namwon Hall showcasing herbs grown on Mt. Jiri. The event will be held concurrently with the Chunhyang Festival amidst academic seminars and many other cultural events.
