Korean Movie to be Remade in Hollywood

2008/11/06 Source

Korean film "Die Bad" directed by Ryoo Seung-wan will be remade in Hollywood by Universal Studios. Released in 2000, "Die Bad" earned critical acclaim for director Ryoo with its incomparable atmosphere and realistic action sequences.

Composed of four short films "Turf War", "Nightmare", "Modern Man", and "Die Bad" - "Die Bad" was shot on a really tight budget and at first shown only in one theater. However, words about the ingenuity of the film quickly spread to grant it nationwide release. Actor Ryoo Seung-bum, director Ryoo's younger brother, made his debut in this film about the meaning of violence in modern times.

American entertainment journal Variety reported that Marc Forster is short-listed to direct the Hollywood version of "Die Bad". Forster's other accomplished works include "Finding Neverland" and "The Kite Runner". His most recent work was the latest James Bond flick, "007 Quantum of Solace", which won worldwide acclaim as one of the best James Bond movies ever. Also to join the production staff are screenwriter Brad Ingels and producer Roy Lee of Vertigo Entertainment, which specializes in Asian film remakes.
