Korean Movie 'Taegukgi' Tops 9 Million Viewers

Korean blockbuster "Taegukgi" clocked more than 9 million admissions at the national box office this past weekend. The Korean War epic attracted 9.12 million moviegoers as of Saturday on its 31st day of release according to the film's distributor Showbox. This is the shortest period of time in which any movie, Korean or foreign was able to top 9 million ticket sales nationwide. It also breaks the previous record set by mega-blockbuster Silmido by 14 days. A story about two brothers forced to fight against each other during the Korean War from 1950 to 1953 "Taegukgi" is a US$13 million production made by celebrity filmmaker Kang Je-gyu.
