Korean film wins best fiction at Tampere festival

"Home Sweet Home" directed by Um Hye-jung has won the best fiction award at the Tampere International Short Film Festival which wrapped up its five-day run Sunday in Finland.

The Korean indie film explores the boundary between the living and dead in a style that evokes subtle fear. Thanks to its high level of artistry, the film has been invited to various indie film festivals across the globe.

"Home Sweet Home" competed for the prize along with 2,300 short films from 78 countries in Tampere, which is regarded as one of the most influential indie film festivals.

The Grand Prix has been awarded to Norwegian Pjotr Sapegin for his film "Through My Think Glasses". The jury characterized the clay animation as "skillful and imaginative, a work of art and humanity" and remarked that it "portrays the human nature in a poetic and loving way".
