Korean director Kim Young-nam Wins Two Locarno Awards

Korean director Kim Young-nam won the FIPRESCI and NETPAC awards at the 59 Locarno International Film Festival with his work "Don't Look Back", according to the film's production company Emotion Pictures on Sunday. The film festival ended on Saturday (local time) in Switzerland.

The FIPRESCI award is granted by the International Federation of Film Critics and the NETPAC award by the Network for the Promotion of Asian Cinema.

The production company quoted the jury as saying that Kim introspectively portrayed the life of a young Korean person from a mature, composed perspective and with a modern directing style, which are rare to find in films by first-time directors.

The grand prix Golden Leopard Award went to "Das Fraulein" by Andrea Staka and the jury's special award to "Half Nelson" by Ryan Fleck".
