On Oct. 26 at TIFFCOM, KOFIC held a presentation on Korea's Global Contents Fund and its Location Incentive Systems. More than 120 film industry professionals attended the event at Roppongi Hills. Kinema Junpo Film Institute's Executive Director Yoshio Kakeo opened the event that detailed the Korean government's KW100 billion (US$90 million) Global Fund, set for launch in November, as well as present KOFIC's co-productions and locations incentive programs. LEE Dongwoo, one of the producers on "Hakuji No Hito", the first film to benefit from KOFIC's 25% locations incentive, was also on hand to present his case study.

Ko-production in Tokyo, organized by KOFIC and TIFFCOM together, presented five Korea-Japan co-production projects: "Boat" director Kim Young-nam's road movie "Minds on Tide", Kim Sang-man's Miracle, about a tenor who battles to get back his voice after cancer; "Most Romantic Sea", based on Japanese writer KAMATA Toshio's bestselling novel, mystery thriller "My Name Is Nobody", directed by KIM Sung-su with producer Iseki SATORU attached, and PARK Jeong-suk's documentary"My Two Mommies" about her biological Korean mother and her adopted Japanese mother.

KAWAMURA Genki, producer of last year's Japanese hit "Confessions" and two others mentored the projects on production, distribution and marketing.

The five projects had a total of 53 meetings with counterparts such as the major JfEo djaakkapanese companies Toho, Toei and Shochiku.

KOFIC's umbrella stand at TIFFCOM also saw a lot of activity with an estimated US$700,000 worth of film sales deals closed on 20 films including "Couples" and "Arrow, The Ultimate Weapon". Seven companies including M-Line Distribution, Lotte Entertainment and Finecut held a total of more than 100 meetings at the stand.
