KOCCA to explore a new market for drama OSTs in Japan

The Korea Culture and Content Agency (KOCCA, CEO: Suh, Byung-Moon) Japanese Office is holding the "Drama Original Sounds Korea 2007", a concert introducing Korean drama OSTs in Uwoopotogeajo, Tokyo, Japan, on July 10.

The concert will feature five Korean singers, including Oh, Hyun-Ran, who sang for "Something Happened in Bali" and "Smile Again", Yoon Mi-Rae, whose song was in the soundtrack of the SBS drama "Lovers in Prague", "JUST", who sang the title song of the MBC drama "Damo" and "My Name is Kim Sam Soon", and HOWL, who sang the title song of the KBS drama "Princess Hours" and "Prince Hours". These singers will promote music in Korean dramas to the Japanese cultural industry.

In addition, Lee Jee-hoon, a member of S, who sang "The Breath", the theme song of the film "April Snow" (2005), will also perform in the concert. "April Snow" featured Korea's biggest star in Japan Bae Yong-joon, making the film a box-office hit in that country. Also, Kayarang, a group of music artists known for their fusion of traditional Korean music and K-POP, will also be on stage to show the audience another aspect of Korean music.

"Drama Original Sounds Korea 2007" is being staged by KOCCA to advance K-POP into the Japanese market and to further improve the market performance of products related to Korean dramas that are popular in Japan. In fact, it has been reported that majority of sales revenues from Korean cultural content is from sales of products related to Korean dramas, such as Korean drama DVDs, OST albums, MD products or goods either related to these dramas or the actors who appeared in these dramas.
