K-Pop Boy Band Ranks High on Readers Poll of TIME's Most Influential List

K-pop Boy band Big Bang ranked second on TIME magazine's annual poll asking readers to name the 100 most influential people in the world this year.

The group garnered 2.9 percent of votes cast by the magazine's readers last week.

U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont, a candidate for the 2016 Democratic presidential nomination, topped the list with 3.3 percent. Burmese pro-democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi took third spot with 2.2 percent, followed by U.S. President Barack Obama with 2 percent.

Others who made the top 10 included singer Taylor Swift, U.S. first lady Michelle Obama, Pope Francis and actor Leonardo DiCaprio.

TIME's annual list of the world's 100 most influential people, chosen by the magazine's editors, will be released on Thursday. The readers' poll is not the only factor taken into consideration when the editors compile the list.
