UN honorary Korean delegate Jung Woo-sung is visiting the refugee camps in the state of Unity and the capital city Juba in Southern Sudan. This is his second visit and in November last year, he visited Nepal.

Jung Woo-sung said, "Many people have been sending help to the victims of the Nepal earthquake and other parts of the world. Southern Sudan is also suffering from hardships and needs the attention of many people".

The Civil War in Sudan has resulted in more than 1.5 million people being displaced and refugees from Sudan and other neighboring countries which add up to 262,000 people. Southern Sudan is one of the UN refugee agency's priority rescue areas. However, the situation in Southern Sudan hasn't been spread out in Asian countries as much as Syria or Iraq and has some complications. Only 26% of the help collected in May has been sent to Sudan.

Ahmed Warsame, the representative of Southern Sudan in the UN says, "It's an honor to meet Jung Woo-sung and I hope more people find out about the crucial circumstances of Southern Sudan and realize how much we need their help".

The Korean representative also says, "We hope more Korean people are aware of Southern Sudan and its hardships through Jung Woo-sung".

Jung Woo-sung the Korean honorary delegate will be visiting refugee camps in the State of Unity, in the Northern part of Southern Sudan. Unity is 12 kilometers away from the border of Southern Sudan and Sudan.

Jung Woo-sung is also meeting internally displaced people under the protection of UNMISS. About 100,000 internally displaced people are spread out in six protection facilities.
