"I mostly played serious or dark parts in films while I was away from TV screens. So I'm excited to play a lighter character in "Suits"," Jang said at a press event on Monday.

Jang plays an elite lawyer who achieves almost everything he wants in life. He co-stars with Park Hyung-sik, who plays a parking lot attendant with a photographic memory who manages to get hired as a junior lawyer.

Despite being nearly 20 years apart, Jang said he and Park "hit it off, so we never had a chance to feel the age gap".

Park said, "You know what? We do fist bumps to say hello to each other. It's so fun talking with him".

The series is a remake of an American courtroom drama that premiered in 2011 and is now in its seventh season on the USA Network.

Jang said, "I tried watching the first season of the original work, but gave up halfway. My character is so charming in that series that I was worried I might end up mimicking the American actor". He added, "I'm sure that the Korean version will also be engaging, but in a different way".

"And I have no difficulty playing a near-perfect character, maybe because we have so much in common", Jang joked. "You'll see a mature middle-aged gentleman in my new series".
