[HanCinema's News] "True Beauty" Clips Exceeds 120 Million Viewers

With "True Beauty" now half complete, on the eve of the drama's second half a noteworthy milestone has been reached in regards to viral popularity. Cumulatively clips from "True Beauty" have now achieved 120 million views across various streaming platforms. Over 100 million of these views originate from YouTube alone. This bias suggests that "True Beauty" is more popular overseas than it is in South Korea, where the drama had fairly modest ratings of 2.9% in its eighth episode.

But the popularity of these clips also suggests that the drama is popular with younger viewers who are less likely to consume dramas on television. A strong showing in the 20-49 demographic has been the main positive news for "True Beauty" in the more traditional ratings. "True Beauty" stars Mun Ka-young in the leading role as a homely teenage girl who becomes obsessed with makeup as a means to improve her appearance, and features Cha Eun-woo as her chief love interest.
