[HanCinema's News] "The Roundup" Breaks Twelve Million Viewer Mark

According to figures released by the Korean Film Council, "The Roundup" passed the twelve million mark on June 26th, a Sunday, on its fortieth day of availability at the South Korean box office. The action cop film is now the thirteenth South Korean film to hit this milestone, and the seventeenth overall. With 12,062,189 admissions, "The Roundup" now lies between the 2004 war film "Taegukgi" and the 2017 Gwangju Uprising adjacent film "A Taxi Driver" on the all-time leaderboard.

"The Roundup" still has prospects for ascending further up the leaderboard, as only the top five performing South Korean films of all time went above the thirteen million viewer mark. However, at this juncture "The Roundup" is unlikely to be able to meet that benchmark itself. "The Roundup" is the first South Korean film to have had a performance this strong since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. The historical film "Hansan: Rising Dragon" will be the next serious such contender in late July.
