[HanCinema's News] "The Goddess of Revenge" Premieres With 3.4% Ratings

In its first weekend the new TV Chosun drama "The Goddess of Revenge" had a respectable opening of 3.4%. "The Goddess of Revenge" is the first TV Chosun drama to air on Saturday and Sunday night since "King Maker: The Change of Destiny" which ended on July 26th with ratings of 5.9%. However, the historical costume drama aired much later in the night compared to "The Goddess of Revenge" which is airing in a nine PM timeslot.

"The Goddess of Revenge" stars Kim Sa-rang as a wronged woman who learns the truth behind her fall from grace and sets forth on the path to revenge. The title is an unapologetically classically styled revenge story, a genre which has fallen out of favor in the South Korean market in recent years. This, even as "The Penthouse" has earned plaudits for combining the revenge genre with more prestige style filmmaking. "The Goddess of Revenge" is directed by Kang Min-goo of "Itaewon Class".
