[HanCinema's News] "The Divine Fury" Leads in Reservations Ahead of Big Summer Weekend

"The Divine Fury" only just came out in South Korea, but even before the movie was available in theaters anticipation for the supernaturally themed action film was strong. The movie accrued over one hundred thousand reservations before its official release.

This makes it the first domestic South Korean film to lead on reservations since "Parasite" last held that distinction some fifty two days ago.

Amusingly enough, both movies feature Park Seo-joon - although his role in "Parasite" was quite brief. The news bodes ill for "Exit - Movie", as both movies target a wide demographic looking to escape the summer heat. Comments on South Korean social media suggest that audiences are more in the mood for slick action and realistic special effects than the more comedic and outrageous tone "Exit - Movie" is going for.

"Exit - Movie" still has a decent chance of outperforming "The King's Letters", as the historical film's depressing tone was a far worse misreading of current moviegoing sentiment. Despite being headlined by Song Kang-ho, one of the industry's greatest box office draws, "The King's Letters" will be lucky to break a million viewers in its second weekend.
