[HanCinema's News] Shin Seung-ho Talks About "Alchemy of Souls"

In a recent interview, actor Shin Seung-ho discussed his thoughts on "Alchemy of Souls" where the actor played the role of Crown Prince Go Won. Despite Crown Prince Go Won having many surly qualities, Shin Seung-ho admitted to the surprise of many that of all the roles he has tried so far, Crown Prince Go Won is the closest to his actual personality. Cheerful, grumpy, optimistic, and pretentious were all words that Shin Seung-ho applied to both his character and himself.

The life story of Shin Seung-ho has something to do with this disposition. The twenty-six year old actor discussed how he had spent eleven years of his life working as a soccer player. Shin Seung-ho said that he gave up this life when he realized that he wasn't happy doing it. Yet at the same time, he claims to have no regrets about having spent so much of his life engaged in soccer. Shin Seung-ho considers this life experience critical to the formation of his character.

Shin Seung-ho emphasized the importance of challenges to this outlook, exhorting people who are afraid of challenges to not have such an attitude. To Shin Seung-ho, even failure in the face of challenge helps to build up a person's sense of personal will and volition. Shin Seung-ho stated that even if it's not the achievement dream a person is looking for, a person still gains something from the process. This is how Shin Seung-ho sees his past career as a soccer player.

The metaphor expressed is quite similar to that of the independent film "Double Patty" from 2020 where Shin Seung-ho co-starred alongside of Irene from Red Velvet. Shin Seung-ho made his acting debut in the web-drama "A-TEEN" from 2018. "Alchemy of Souls" ended on August 28th with ratings of 9.218% for its twentieth episode. The fantasy historical drama will return for part two with another ten episodes sometime this December.
